SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A quick turnaround for the Evangel men's basketball team will see the Crusaders hit the hardwood Thursday night against MidAmerica Nazarene in Heart of America Athletic Conference play.
SERIES HISTORY The all-time series between Evangel and MidAmerica Nazarene is tied entering Thursday's game at 37-37. Last season the home team won each meeting with the Crusaders taking a 96-89 win inside the Ashcroft Center on Jan. 31, the second meeting between the schools.
► Evangel looks to snap a five-game skid on Thursday with their second game in 48-hours. The Crusaders host rival MidAmerica Nazarene as the two teams split the season series last year with the home team winning each meeting.
► Tuesday's loss at Baker was just the third by more than 10 points this season. The Crusaders are also playing their third ranked team in four games as MidAmerica Nazarene enters at No. 19 in the Preseason Coaches Poll.
► Junior Clark Brewington (Pocahontas, Ark.) has led Evangel with 16.7 points per game and is shooting 42 percent from behind the three-point line. Brewington is just seven threes away from 100 for his career and would be the 24th Crusader to make 100 three's in a career as he enters with 24 this season after a career-best 42 last season.
► Redshirt-Freshman Edriel Martinborough led Evangel with a season-high 16 points in Tuesday's loss at Baker coming off the bench. Another freshman that has made an impact has been Cade Coffman and Pavel Antonov. Coffman leads Evangel in rebounding at 5.8 boards per game, while Antonov has seen his average rise to 7.8 points per game.
Evangel finishes a busy week on Saturday with another quick turnaround against Peru State. Tipoff from the Ashcroft Center on Saturday is scheduled for 4 p.m.
