SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel men's basketball team continues home action Saturday against 2nd-ranked William Penn.
SERIES HISTORY William Penn leads the short series with Evangel, 5-2 and has won the last five meetings going back to a 90-89 win at William Penn durring the 2015-16 season. The Statesmen won the only meeting between the two teams last season and took a 109-73 victory in Oskaloosa, Iowa in the first meeting.
► Evangel continues a four-game homestand after a week of hosting No. 2 William Penn on Saturday. The Crusaders are trying to snap a five-game skid to the Statesmen.
► Clark Brewington eclipsed 100 three-pointers for his career last week and surpassed Shane Nicholson (104) and Mike Linehan (105) on the career three-pointer list. Brewington is shooting 34 percent from the three-point line this season.
► Freshman Cade Coffman is nearing 100 rebounds on the season as his 5.8 rebounds per game ranks No. 1 among freshman in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Coffman also ranks 16th among all players and 34th nationally in offensive rebounding.
► Sophomore transfer Chris Stocks has helped make an immediate impact on the Crusaders, scoring in double figures each game since his arrival at semester. Stocks enters Saturday at 15 points per game and 2.5 assists per game through four games.
Evangel continues action inside the Ashcroft Center next Thursday against Baker. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
