SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Valor returned home for their final weekend doubleheader of the season when they took on the Pioneers of MidAmerica Nazarene. In game one, MidAmerica used huge second and third innings to grab a large lead that Evangel could not overcome, 19-2. The second game of the afternoon played similarly to the first when MNU used a big third and sixth inning to take a lead that maintained to the finish, 17-7.

Evangel recorded four home runs throughout both games, scoring every single run on a home run for the Valor.
HOW IT HAPPENED

In game one, MidAmerica scored 17 runs in the first four innings, hitting two solo home runs, two two-run homers, and a grand slam on a very windy Saturday afternoon.

Evangel found the board in the bottom of the fourth inning when Athanie Leeviraphan singled through the left side and Dalton Cook blasted a two run shot to right field, making it a 17-2 ballgame.

MNU added another two runs on a two run homer in the top of the seventh, finishing the game with a 19-2 victory over Evangel.

In the second game of the afternoon, it was Evangel who scored first. In the second at bat for the Valor, Mason Hansen blasted a two run shot to right center field, scoring Gage Harris who singled to kick the inning off, giving EU a 2-0 lead.

MNU quickly retook the lead in the third inning when they hit another solo home run and their second grand slam of the afternoon, giving themselves a 6-1 lead.

In the bottom of the third, Harris scored on a Leeviraphan groundout to narrow the gap to just three runs, 6-3.

Throughout the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, MNU scored a combined 11 runs, off of four home runs, and a bases clearing double, giving the Pioneers a 17-3 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Cook blasted his second home run of the day to right field, scoring Noah Suiter who had singled to get on base. Nathan Lamb walked immediately after the home run and Nathan Weatherly smashed a no-doubt home run to left field, narrowing the margin to 10 runs, 17-7.

In the bottom of the seventh, Evangel could not produce offense to fuel the comeback, falling 17-7.
