WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – The Evangel men's basketball team keeps the winning momentum going with a 79-64 win over the Eagles of Williams Baptist.
The Crusaders found themselves down by as many as seven points in the first half but were able to work themselves back into the game and go into halftime with a two-point lead after a Cade Coffman bucket at the buzzer.
The second half continued back-and-forth with neither team able to really pull away from the other until 7:09 left in the game when Josh Pritchett made a shot that put the Crusaders up nine. The Eagles would make one last surge and get the game down to three with 3:21 remaining, but, again, Pritchett suck a three-pointer and the game was never close again.
Evangel shot 59% from the field, including 69% for the second half. Nate Davis led the Crusaders offensively and narrowly missed a double-double with his 22 points and 8 assists. Cade Coffman also narrowly missed a double-double with 16 points and 9 assists. Rounding out the Crusaders in double figures was Pav Antonov who had 15 points and 3 blocks in the game.
The Crusaders will start Heart of America conference play on Saturday, Nov. 16 when they travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to take on Mount Mercy.
