CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA – The Crusaders suffered their first loss in Heart of America conference play on Saturday with an 85-77 loss to Mount Mercy.

The game started out as a back-and-forth affair, but the Mustangs started to take over when they built a ten-point lead at the 5:50 mark of the first half. The Crusaders went to the half trailing by eight, and in the second half didn't get closer than six points until 1:55 left in the game. The Crusaders got it down to five when Nate Davis made a jumper with 1:25 left in the game. After that, the Crusaders started to foul to try to stop the clock, and the Mustangs were able to put the game away at the foul line.

The Crusaders shot 42% from the field for the game and 55% from the charity stripe.

Sophomore Edriel Martinborough barely missed a double-double with 25 points and 8 rebounds, while junior Nate Davis had 19 points.

Senior Clark Brewington led the Crusaders on the boards with 9.
