SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A pair of 20-point efforts from Nate Davis and Cade Coffman helped the Evangel men's basketball team to an 85-73 win over Grand View University on Saturday.

The Crusaders jumped out to a hot start building a 13-point lead just before halftime. Evangel would take a 47-36 lead into the locker room after shooting 54 percent from the field and knocking down eight three-pointers.

The second-half was more Crusaders who used a 15-5 run to lead by as many as 16 at the 14-minute mark. The lead used an exclamation point when Cade Coffman found Edriel Martinborough for an alley-oop dunk, then Ike Egwu posted back to back dunks giving the Crusaders a 61-45 lead.

Nate Davis led the way for Evangel with 21 points, while Coffman added 20 points and four rebounds. Davis went 4 for 7 from behind the three-point arc as Evangel knocked down 11 three-pointers as a team.

Martinborough finished with 19 points, six assists and five boards to give Evangel three scorers in double figures.

Grand View was led by 19 points off the bench from Ryan Miller.

Evangel continues home action on Wednesday night against Benedictine. Tipoff from the Ashcroft Center is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
