SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel men's basketball team's season came to an end Thursday night in the Heart Conference Tournament Quarterfinals falling 90-75 to William Penn.

Evangel finishes with a 16-15 mark, while regular-season champion William Penn improves to 28-3 and will host No. 3 seed MidAmerica Nazarene in the Heart Semifinals on Saturday.

The Crusaders hung with the Statesmen most of the game as a three-pointer at the buzzer fell off the mark at halftime giving William Penn a 39-38 lead. Evangel would hang with William Penn in the second half as a bench technical foul gave the Crusaders a spark cutting the Statesmen lead to six at 55-49 with 13:18 left.

However, William Penn would out-rebound Evangel 48-26 and attempt 15 more free throws going 26 of 29 at the free-throw line to pull away. The Crusaders went 10 of 14 from the free-throw line as three second-half technical fouls were whistled against Evangel who shot just 38 percent from the field.

Cade Coffman led Evangel with 15 points and eight rebounds while Josh Pritchett added 15 points off the bench as well. Coffman became the 37th Crusader to score more than 500 points in a season finishing with 517 total points and 803 for his career.

Nate Davis added 13 points for Evangel and Clark Brewington finished with nine points after knocking down three three-pointers. Brewington finishes his career third in the Evangel record books with 227 three-pointers and 91 three-pointers this season marking the fourth-best in a single-season.

William Penn shot 48 percent from the field and was led by Dexter Hood who finished with 18 points and four boards.
