RAYMORE, Mo. – The Evangel men's and women's golf teams turned in promising starts at the Heart of America Fall Preview Monday at Creekmore Golf Club.
Led by an opening-round 74 by Jake Brown, the EU men (326) concluded the first day of play in seventh place, while the women turned in a team score of 374 to place sixth in the 10-team field.
In addition to Brown's strong showing, Reagan Streck carded an eight-over-par 80 to earn a tie for the No. 20 spot on the leaderboard. Jathan White also finished day one among the top 25 men's golfers with a round of 82.
Ashtynn Russell (87) carded the top individual round by an Evangel female, finishing in a tie for 15th. Ashley White (89) placed 19th, just two strokes off Russell's pace, while Madelyn Jenkins recorded a 97 to finish the day in the 31st position.
The Heart of America Fall Preview concludes Tuesday (Oct. 6) at Creekmore.
