SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel Men's Soccer hosted Graceland on Friday for their final conference match of the year. Although playing the Yellowjackets tough in the first half, Graceland was able to take advantage of the shorthanded Valor squad, as the Yellowjackets took the win, 3-0.
Neither team was able to generate much of any offense in the first half as Graceland found their first goal with just 13 minutes left in the period. The Yellowjackets followed the goal by tacking another on just three minutes later, as Evangel could not capitalize on their offensive opportunities. Graceland took a 2-0 lead into the break as Evangel looked to bounce back in the second half.
Evangel's Dean McConnell registered Evangel's first shot on goal in the second half, nearly scoring to narrow the deficit. Spencer Chevalier followed McConnell's shot with an attempt of his own in the half, but the shot went just wide. The Valor could not muster any more offense in the half as Graceland would add an additional goal and end the game with the 3-0 victory.
McConnell recorded the lone shot on goal for Evangel.
Evangel was outshot 10-1 on goal
Anthony Morales recorded seven saves in goal.
Evangel is still without a full strength team as many starters have been dealing with injury.
Evangel will end their season with a home non-conference matchup against Ecclesia College on Monday (Oct. 31) at 2:00 p.m.
