Marshall, Mo. -- The Evangel softball team rallied for a double-header split Saturday at Missouri Valley with a 5-4 setback in game one and a 4-0 win in the second game.
Evangel saw an early lead slip away as the Crusaders scored a run in each of the first four innings of the first game. However, the 4-0 lead would quickly disappear in the fourth when Missouri Valley tied the game with a four-run bottom of the fourth.
Bridget Rippe was solid scattering eight hits in six innings as four hits came in that fourth inning. Rippe struck out two and walked just one in the loss.
The Crusaders out-hit Missouri Valley 9-8 as Michelle Sheppard, Allison Davis, Ali Raley, and Ashlie Marshall all finished with two hits each. Raley was 2 for 2 with a RBI coming on a home run while also taylling a double.
The second game saw Evangel rally for four runs in the seventh inning to steal a 4-0 win. The Crusaders were held to just four hits through the first six innings when Allison Davis took a one-out single to right and moved to third on a Viking error.
Anah Noble led the offense going 2 for 4 with two RBIs, a double and a run scored.
Abby Emmitt held the VIkings to just three hits in the shutout as she struck out 10 and walked just two.
Evangel returns back home Wednesday against MidAmerica Nazarene in a South Division double-header. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
