KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Five Evangel softball Crusaders were honored Wednesday by the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
Senior Michelle Sheppard was named first-team all-Heart to lead the group as the Broken Arrow, Okla. native also earned a Gold Glove as a utility player. Sheppard broke the Evangel single-season and career stolen base records and finished fifth in the conference with a .420 batting average.
Joining Sheppard is Second Team selection, pitcher Bridget Rippe, and honorable mention, Allison Davis and Ali Raley. Sophomore outfielder, Jenna Halbrook also was named a Gold Glove winner for her play in the field.
Rippe finished the season with 11 wins and posted a 2.67 ERA. The sophomore posted 85 strikeouts and 30 walks in 126 innings pitched.
Davis, a senior, earned honorable mention honors after posting a .407 batting average, with 14 doubles and 24 RBIs. Raley, a freshman catcher, posted a .309 batting average and led Evangel in home runs.
