Evangel Softball Falls Cold at Ottawa

OTTAWA, Kan. – Evangel softball falls on the road to the Ottawa Braves on Tuesday.

Game One
Evangel struck first in the top of the third off an RBI single by Josie Allcock. However, the Crusaders gave up two runs in the fourth and sixth innings and were never able to mount a rally to take the lead back.

The Crusaders had four hits in the game all from Allcock and Kristyn Stocks who both went 2-3 in the game.

Defensively the Crusaders committed two errors from Allcock and Marissa Lokey.

Bridget Rippe pitched a complete game in the loss, giving up four earned runs off seven hits, while walking one and striking out one.

Game Two
Again, the Crusaders struck first in game two scoring one run in both the first and second innings and then falling flat for the rest of the game. Marissa Lokey hit an RBI double in the first, while Ashlie Marshall hit a sac bunt to score Taylor Mathis from third.

Again, the Crusaders had four hits in the game. Lokey went 2-2, while Stocks went 1-4 and AJ Carpenter went 1-3.

Abby Jo Emmitt pitched a complete game in the loss, giving up four runs off five hits while striking out seven and walking eight.

Evangel will continue their non-conference slate on the road at Missouri Baptist on Monday, March 16 for a doubleheader matchup. First pitch for game one is slated for 2 p.m.
