    The Evangel Valor Softball team had another successful year in the classroom over the 21-22 athletic season, finishing with a 3.65 team cumulative GPA for the year.

    Continuing their trend of elimination games, Evangel took on Benedictine to determine who would advance to the next round to take on Central Methodist. Evangel built a big enough lead to survive a scare in the seventh inning, taking the win, 5-4.
  • Valor Softball Fights Hard, Falling to NAIA Ranked Central Methodist

    After winning three consecutive elimination games, Evangel needed to take down the NAIA ranked #9 team in the nation in Central Methodist to advance to the Championship match. Although Evangel fought hard, fatigue caught up to the Valor as they fell, 6-0.
  • Valor Fends off Elimination, Downs Culver-Stockton in Late Night Affair

    After falling to the consolation bracket due to a loss to William Penn earlier in the day, Evangel knew that they could not afford another loss or their season would come to an end. Playing with the mentality of win or go home, Evangel came out strong in their matchup with Culver-Stockton, pulling out the victory, 5-3.

    After defeating Culver-Stockton late last night, Evangel moved to the next elimination game against the number 10 team in the nation in Grand View. Continuing to fight with the survive and advance mentality, the Valor pulled off the upset of the high ranked Vikings team, 8-0.

    Five Evangel Valor softball standouts have earned spots on Heart of America Athletic Conference All-Conference teams, as Samantha Romano and Ali Raley were tabbed for second-team honors as well as honorable mention recognition for Abby Jo Emmitt, Karlie Romines, and Brooke Arnold, the league office announced Thursday.

    The Valor took on the Statesmen of William Penn on Thursday morning for the first game of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Softball Championships, looking to grab a win and advance to the next day of games. A back and forth battle ensued throughout the game and ultimately, extras were needed to determine a winner. It was William Penn who came out victorious in the eighth inning after they scored two to take a lead they would not relinquish, 5-4.

  • Valor Softball Swept by Park in Home Finale

    The Valor softball team returned home to take part in their 13th and 14th game in the last nine days against the Pirates of Park. Evangel struggled on the offensive side of the ball in game one, mustering just four hits, as Park took the victory, 2-0. Park used offense early in game two, scoring six quick runs and shut down Evangel’s offense to take the shutout victory.

  • Valor Softball Rebounds with Sweep of Baker on Tuesday

    The Valor softball team hit the road to take on the Wildcats of Baker on Tuesday (Apr. 26) afternoon. Game one was a defensive affair, with both starting pitchers throwing nine innings as Evangel finally broke through, claiming the victory after they scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning and shut down the Wildcat offense. In the second game of the afternoon, Evangel grabbed a lead in the fifth and held it to the end as Abby Jo Emmitt and Ashland Diggs both pitched well to preserve the 5-3 win.

    After a long week of games, Evangel Softball hosted the number nine team in the nation on Monday afternoon, looking to take a couple of wins. Central Methodist brought their best pitching into the games and stalled the Valor offense, 5-0, in game one, and 8-0, in game two.
  • Valor Softball Splits with Missouri Valley on Saturday

    On Saturday afternoon, Evangel ended their span of eight games over six days when they took on the Vikings of Missouri Valley. In game one, Samantha Romano continued her streak of excellent pitching, taking down the Vikings alongside solid offensive play, 7-3. In the eighth and final game of the week, the Valor struggled to generate offense as the week of games began to wear the team down. In the end, EU kept the game close, but fell, 3-1, finishing 7-1 on the week.
  • Valor Softball Continues Hot Streak, Downs Benedictine on Friday

    After winning 12 of their last 14 matches, Evangel came into Friday’s doubleheader matchups with Benedictine on a roll. In game one, the Valor capitalized on Benedictine’s miscues and used strong offense to win, 10-5. Abby Jo Emmitt had a great day in the circle in game two, shutting out Benedictine and leading EU to a 4-0 victory and sweep of the Ravens, giving them eight straight victories.

    Coming off two thrilling matchups against Missouri Valley, the Valor looked to avenge their earlier losses to MidAmerica Nazarene. In game one, Evangel’s Samantha Romano shut down the Pioneer offense, helping lead Evangel to a 4-0 shutout victory. Game two was a thriller between both teams as the Valor walked off in the seventh inning on a Brooke Arnold single, 2-1.
  • Evangel Sweeps Missouri Valley After a Duo of Thrilling Matchups

    After a week with no Evangel Softball games due to inclement weather, the Valor traveled to Missouri Valley looking to take two against the Vikings. In game one, Evangel recorded offense at crucial moments in the game, giving the Valor a 3-2 win over the Vikings. In the second game of the afternoon, both teams fought hard, battling back and forth throughout the afternoon. Ultimately, Evangel pushed across the winning run in the 11th inning, 9-8.

In game one, the Vikings grabbed an early lead and shut down Evangel’s offense, taking the game, 8-1. Grand View needed just five innings to take down the Valor in game two, after EU could not generate much offense.

    On Tuesday afternoon, Valor Softball hosted the Wildcats of Baker in a doubleheader matchup between Heart South foes. In game one, Samantha Romano was untouchable as she recorded a no-hitter, her second of the season, to shut down Baker, 8-0. In the second game of the afternoon, both teams struggled to generate offense, but solid pitching and fielding for Evangel led the Valor to the two game sweep of Baker, 3-1.
  • Abby Jo Emmitt Named Heart Pitcher of the Week on Monday

    After a busy week for Valor Softball, senior leader Abby Jo Emmitt was named as the Heart Softball Pitcher of the Week for the first time in the 2022 season. Emmitt recorded a stellar week in the circle for Evangel, finishing with a 0.98 era overall and going 3-1 throughout the week. Abby Jo pitched 28.2 innings with four complete games and struck out 37 batters.
