PARKVILLE, Mo. – Evangel Softball hit the road to open conference play against the Pirates of Park on Sunday afternoon. The Valor used great overall play in game one to win, 11-3, but ran out of offensive production in game two, falling 3-1, to split with Park.
HIGHLIGHTS

Park scored first in game one, but after the Pirate two-run first inning, the Valor found their offense and cruised to an 11-3 victory in six innings.

Samantha Romano (2-1) pitched well in game one, limiting Park to only three runs, all of which were unearned, and striking out three batters.

In game two, Evangel pitched well, but could not find enough offense to keep pace with Park, falling 3-1.

Both Abby Jo Emmitt and Micaiah Cordell (0-2) pitched well in the circle in game two, but the lone Evangel error of the game proved costly, allowing two runs to score for Park that proved to be the difference maker in the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED

After Park grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning, Evangel scored three of their own, thanks to a Mariah Hanner double that scored Josie Allcock, and a Abigail Posten home run over the left field wall that scored Hanner.

The Valor scored a fourth run in the third run after Annslee Leeviraphan singled, scoring Kaydran Russell who was pinch running for Ali Raley, giving EU a 4-2 lead.

Evangel used an offensive outburst in the fifth inning to push out of reach of Park. Brooke Arnold, Karlie Romines, Morgan Shockley, and Allcock all scored on six total hits in the inning, giving the Valor a 9-3 lead.

Two runs came in to score in the sixth inning for EU, giving them the 11-3 win after Arnold scored on an error and Leeviraphan grounded out, scoring Allcock.

In game two, both teams struggled to record any offense until Park loaded the bases in the third inning. An error allowed Park to score their first two runs of the game.

Evangel found their offense in the sixth inning after Arnold doubled to score Shockley to trail 2-1.

Park scored an insurance run in the seventh that extended their lead to two runs and gave the Pirates the win after Evangel had an opportunity with the game tying score at the plate.

Romano recorded her second win of the season and fourth complete game of the year in game one.
