DES MOINES, Iowa – Valor Softball took on nationally ranked Grand View on Saturday, looking to continue their six game winning streak. In game one, the Vikings grabbed an early lead and shut down Evangel's offense, taking the game, 8-1. Grand View needed just five innings to take down the Valor in game two, after EU could not generate much offense.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Valor finished game two with just two hits, coming up short in a five inning matchup with Grand View, 8-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Valor pitching in game one struggled out of the gate as Grand View scored five runs on five hits, three walks, and a hit by pitch.

  • The Vikings added an additional run in the third inning to lead 6-0.

  • Evangel put their lone run on the board when Annslee Leeviraphan doubled to score Abigail Posten, who had singled to get on base.

  • Grand View scored two more runs in the sixth inning on an error and sacrifice fly and proceeded to shut down the Valor bats in the seventh inning to claim the 8-1 victory.

  • Game two was tough on both sides of the ball for Evangel as Grand View hit a two-run home run in the first inning to grab an early 2-0 lead.

  • Kaydran Russell singled in the second inning, but was thrown out on a double play ground ball.

  • In the top of the fourth, Evangel's Josie Allcock singled to left field for EU's last hit of game two and was left stranded.

  • Grand View tacked on six runs throughout the fourth and fifth innings to run-rule Evangel, 8-0 in five innings.

NOTABLE

  • Leeviraphan hit the only extra base hit of the day for Evangel, her second double of the season.
