SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Valor softball team returned home to take part in their 13th and 14th game in the last nine days against the Pirates of Park. Evangel struggled on the offensive side of the ball in game one, mustering just four hits, as Park took the victory, 2-0. Park used offense early in game two, scoring six quick runs and shut down Evangel's offense to take the shutout victory.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • In game one, Evangel was stifled, falling 2-0 to the Pirates of Park, after only amassing four hits.

  • In the second game of the afternoon, Park used a big third inning to grab a large lead that the Valor could not overcome, as they fell 6-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Park scored a run in the second inning, grabbing an early 1-0 lead over Evangel.

  • The Pirates again found the scoreboard in the fourth inning, adding to their lead.

  • In the bottom of the sixth, Abigail Posten and Kaydran Russell both singled to get two runners on base, but fell short of advancing the runners as Park forced two outs.

  • Park shut down Evangel's bats in the bottom of the seventh and took the win, 2-0.

  • After a tough game at the plate in game one, Evangel struggled again on offense in game two, generating just five runs on offense.

  • Park scored a total of six runs throughout the first three innings of play in game two, using 12 hits to push the runs across.

  • The Valor had runners on the corners in the bottom of the sixth inning, but failed to score them, and ultimately went three up, three down in the seventh, falling 6-0 to Park. 

NOTABLE

  • Evangel recorded just nine hits combined throughout both games on Wednesday.

UP NEXT

Evangel will hit the road for their final doubleheader of the season on Saturday (Apr. 30) against the #9 ranked Eagles of Central Methodist, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
