OLATHE, Kan. – A big fourth quarter saw the 6th-ranked MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers outlast the Evangel women's basketball team 85-65 Wednesday night in Heart of America Athletic Conference play.

The Crusaders fell behind early but pulled within two points at the end of the beginning of the second quarter at 22-20. However, the Pioneers went on a 12-4 run keeping Evangel at arm's length with a 39-30 halftime lead.

The lead stayed at eight through three quarters, but MNU took advantage of 23 Evangel turnovers to outscore the Crusaders 26-14 in the final frame. The Pioneers finished with 25 points off turnovers compared to 16 for Evangel.

Emma Lander led the Crusaders with a double-double finishing with 16 points and 11 boards. Lexie Vaught added 15 points and five steals in the loss, while Kylee Moore also finished in double figures adding 10 points off the bench.

The Pioneers saw two scorers finish with 20 points as Jovana Jovovic led the way with 28 points and eight rebounds. Kechelle Figueroa scored 24 points and tallied 14 assists to earn a double-double.

Evangel continues road action on Saturday heading north to Peru State. Tipoff from Peru, Nebraska is scheduled for 2 p.m.
