Total Team Effort Gives Evangel Women 75-53 Win at Graceland

LAMONI, Iowa – A dominant performance by the Evangel women's basketball team saw the Crusaders roll past Graceland 75-53 in Heart Conference action.

The Crusaders improved to 10-8 overall and 8-5 in the Heart while Graceland fell to 3-16 overall and 0-13 in conference play.

Evangel led from start to finish building a 31-10 first-quarter lead. Despite a slow second quarter, the Crusaders still led 40-22 at halftime.

Ten of 14 Crusaders that saw action scored in the win as Evangel forced 20 turnovers on the defensive end. The Crusaders held the Yellowjackets to 23 percent from the field in the first half and just 30 percent shooting for the game.

Emma Lander led Evangel with 16 points and seven steals, while Bayley Harman came off the bench to add 15 points. Harman was also the leading rebounder for the Crusaders with nine boards.

Evangel responded in the third quarter to push the game farther out of reach with a 22-point quarter. The Crusaders also got 36 points off their bench.

Graceland was led by Calesse Bair who finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Evangel returns back to the Ashcroft Center on Saturday to host Mount Mercy. The Crusaders won 77-56 in the first meeting in Iowa. Tipoff from Springfield is scheduled for 12 p.m.
