SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel defeated Benedictine on the road on Wednesday night, 63-58.

The Crusaders jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead thanks to Emma Lander's work in the post. The Ravens were able to go on a run of their own to tie the game at seven.

Evangel would lead by one to start the second quarter. They used this quarter to really build their lead over the Ravens, leading by as many as 14 before going into halftime leading by seven.

Evangel would maintain that lead throughout most of the third and fourth quarters, until the last minute of the game when the Skylar Washington hit both of her double bonus free throws to cut the lead to three.

A quick foul put Bri Vogts on the line, where she knocked down both of her free throws, only to have the Ravens go down the court to hit a fast bucket, and the Crusaders' lead was back to just three.

As soon as the ball was inbounded, Bayley Harman was fouled. She hit both of her free throws to push the lead back out to five, where it would stay.

"Super proud of our girls tonight! We got into some foul trouble, but we had different girls step up despite that. One example is Taylor Arnold coming in and knocking down a 3 point shot," Head Coach Megan Leuzinger said following the game.

"I was very impressed with our free throw shooting tonight. To go 20-21 from the free throw line was key. I thought our girls did a great job fighting through different adversities throughout the game. It is always nice to win on the road in conference!"

Vogts led the Crusaders with 14 points, followed by Harman with 12 and Lander with 10.

Harman and Lexie Vaught led Evangel on the boards with 8 each.

Benedictine was led by Ali Brzozowski's double-double, 20 pts and 10 rebs.

The Crusaders will return home on Saturday, Feb. 15, to take on Culver-Stockton. Tipoff is slated for noon.
