DES MOINES, Iowa – Emma Lander's double-double paced the Crusaders past the Vikings on Saturday, 80-67.

"Thankful to get a win on the road! We had girls step up in big ways when we needed them to, and hit some big shots," head coach Megan Leuzinger had to say following the game. "Lexie had a big first half for us, and was consistent in the second half."

Lexie Vaught led the way for the Crusaders early in the game scoring 18 of her points in the first half, giving the Crusaders a four-point lead at the half. Evangel came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring the Vikings 21-16, extending their lead to nine points.

"We won the battle on the boards, which was extremely important. Emma was huge today for us, both in rebounding and scoring," continued Leuzinger.

Emma Lander had the first double-double of her career, scoring 20 points and bring in 12 rebounds. Vaught also had 22 points in the game with six rebounds, six steals, and five assists.

The Crusaders shot 41% from the field, and 47% from three-point. Defensively, they forced 21 turnovers and scored 21 points off those turnovers.

"I am super proud of how our girls are locking it in defensively and staying focused for the full 40 minutes," finished Leuzinger.

Shannon Pisney led the Vikings with 19 points.

Evangel continues their road swing with a trip to Marshall, Mo. on Wednesday to take on Missouri Valley. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.
