Crusaders Take Down Missouri Valley With Help From Lander's Double-Double

Crusaders Take Down Missouri Valley With Help From Lander's Double-Double

MARSHALL, Mo. - Evangel women's basketball completes the season sweep of Missouri Valley with a 79-60 win on Wednesday night.

The Vikings came out in the first quarter firing on all cylinders, but Evangel was able to weather the storm and come out strong in the second quarter to take the lead for good off a three-pointer from Bayley Harman with 1:30 left in the second quarter.

"So proud of these girls for getting another win on the road. I thought we came out a little wound up, but then as the game went on we settled down. We did a tremendous job of sharing the ball tonight," Coach Megan Leuzinger said following the game.

The Crusaders shot 53% from the field en route to the win.

Emma Lander led the Crusaders with another double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Three other Crusaders were in double figures: Lexie Vaught (16 pts), Kylee Moore (11 pts), and Alexis Cauthon (10 pts).

With the win, the Crusaders remain in fourth place in the Heart of America and it looks very likely that they will be hosting a tournament game next Wednesday.

Sierra Adams led the Vikings with 16 points.

Up Next

The Crusaders finish up the regular season on Saturday afternoon by hosting (20) Clarke on Senior Day. Tipoff is slated for noon at the Ashcroft Center.
