BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Evangel women's golf team completed the first of two days of play at the Panthers Invitational Monday at Silo Ridge Country Club, with EU sophomore Ashley White leading the Crusaders with an opening-round 82 (+10) to share the fifth spot on the individual leaderboard.
White, which led EU with a 12-over-par 82 at last week's Evangel Invitational as well, will enter Tuesday's final round of play four shots off the pace of co-leaders Emilie Nguyen of Missouri S & T and Annaliesia Salazar of host Drury.
As a team, EU carded 354 for the day to place eighth, 26 strokes off the pace of Missouri S&T in the top position on the leaderboard.
"It was a tough first round," EU head coach Jon Jenkins stated. "But the girls fought hard and we're looking to move up the leaderboard tomorrow."
