SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Crusaders women's soccer extend their winning streak to six games, including a 3-0 conference mark for the first time ever, with a 2-1 win over MNU on Wednesday night.

The first half was defensive battle with no team able to find much offensive rhythm. That changed in the second half when Evangel was able to grow into the game and score quickly into the second half when in the 49th minute, Bianca Biffert was able to slot home a pass from Sedona Townsend to give the Crusaders the lead.  They maintained their offensive attack and were again able to find the back of the net in the 61st minute, this time with Ashley Ard hitting a Townsend pass past the keeper.

From there the Pioneers started to press more on the offensive attack and were able to get a goal back in the 74th minute. For the rest of the game, they had relentless pressure on the Crusader defense, but they were unable to find an equalizer.

"What a great win for our program! The ladies executed our plan for the match brilliantly and deserve every bit of credit for that result! The pressure we put on the ball created the chances we were able to capitalize on this evening. And I love how much we defended the match out those last 10 minutes or so even after they scored. Incredible team effort tonight," Head Coach Bruce Deaton had to say after the win.

In total, the Crusaders were able to get 18 shots off, with 10 being on goal. Biffert led the way with 8 shots and 5 SOG, Alyson Reinold had 4 shots, and Ard had 2. Bailey Biffert, Meredith Weik, and Amber Ellis all had a shot and a SOG, while McKinley Yoder had a shot.

Townsend had both assists for the Crusaders.

Caitlyn Cox held down the defense with four saves between the sticks.
