Box Score

LAMONI, Iowa – The Evangel women's soccer team drew 2-2 after a tough double OT battle at Graceland.

Graceland scored first in the 18th minute when they were able to find the back of the net on a corner kick. The Crusaders would have multiple chances in the first half, including a penalty kick, to tie the game, but were unable to find an equalizer.

After halftime, the Crusaders started the second half strong, and ten minutes into the half, Bianca Biffert found the equalizer with a screamer from just inside the box. The Crusaders would continue to dominate possession and push for a goal to give themselves the lead. That goal would come in the 67th minute, when again Biffert fired home a beautiful shot from outside the box to the upper left corner.

The Crusaders would give very few shots to the Yellowjackets in the second half, but they took advantage of what they got and equalized in the 76th minute. From then on, even with two ten-minute overtime periods, neither team was able to break the deadlock and the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Head Coach Bruce Deaton said this following the draw, "Ladies once again played some incredible soccer. The fight in them after going into half down 1-0, we made an adjustment to our play and and created a number of chances. Bianca Biffert found the back of the net twice to put us up 2-1. There were able to score later in the half to level the game out. The ladies continued to battle and create several excellent chances throughout overtime but a couple of crossbar strikes kept the score at 2-2 and that is how the match would conclude. But 3-0-1 is a great place for us to be. Another milestone for the program!"

Evangel outshot the Yellowjackerts with 29 shots and 15 SOG to their 13 shots and 7 SOG. Biffert led the team with 12 shots (8 SOG), followed by Alyson Reinold with 6 shots (4 SOG).

Caitlyn Cox played the full ninety minutes between the sticks for the Crusaders and had four saves and allowed two goals.
