SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel women's soccer team dominated Williams Baptist on Tuesday night by a final score of 9-0.

The Crusaders scored early and often, netting six in the first half. The first came in the opening minute when Grace Wright was able to fool the keeper and slot it home. Bianca Biffert scored the first of her four goals one minute later. Wright got her second in the 9th minute following a pass from Bianca Biffert. Sedona Townsend scored in the 16th minute after an assist from Alyson Reinold. Biffert's second goal came off a pass from McKinley Yoder in the 23rd minute. Samantha Elliot rounded out the scoring for the first half with her goal in the 29th minute.

Emma McCall opened the scoring in the second half with her goal in the 47th minute, and Bianca Biffert scored her final two goals in the 53rd and 62nd minutes. Her goal in the 53rd minute was assisted by Wright.

"While we still have some areas to continue to build upon as we get prepared for conference play this weekend, our dynamic ball movement tonight really created some very nice goals and several more scoring opportunities. Our defensive play was once again superb tonight as we were able to close down any attacking chances for our opponent. A 2-0 start with a pair of clean sheets is a pretty solid way to begin the season," Head Coach Bruce Deaton said following the game.

In all, Evangel took 32 shots with 20 being on goal. Biffert led the way with four goals, followed by Wright with two, and Townsend, Elliot, and McCall with one each. Reinold, Biffert, Wright and Yoder led Evangel with one assist each.

Abbey Schmidt, Elise Palmer, and Chloe Hancock each spent time in goal. They allowed zero goals off zero shots.

The Crusaders will start conference play with a road trip to Cedar Rapids, IA on Saturday, Sept. 19 to take on Mount Mercy. Kickoff is slated for noon.
