CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Evangel women's soccer team opened Heart of America conference play with an emphatic 10-0 win over Mount Mercy, behind hat tricks from Bianca Biffert and Renon Kirkpatrick.

The Crusaders were firing on all cylinders, scoring five goals in each half. Bianca Bffert found the back of the net just two minutes into the game to score her first goal. Sedona Townsend scored in the 25th off a pass from Biffert. Biffert scored her second of the game seven minutes later. Renon Kirkpatrick scored two of her goals six minutes apart (37', 44') off passes from Samantha Elliott and Annslee Glenn

In the second half, Biffert found the back the of the net early, just 49 seconds in, to complete her hat trick. Grace Wright scored in the 50th minute off a pass from Alyson Reinold. Townsend used her head to score her second goal in the 61st minute, while Kirkpatrick completed her hat trick in the 74th minute. Madison Maher finished off the scoring in the 77th minute off a pass form Sarah Peterson

"The ladies executed our game plan to the fullest! We wanted to start off conference play with a very strong performance, and I believe we most definitely did that. I am so proud of each of the ladies on a record-setting day!" Head Coach Bruce Deaton had to say following the game. 

The Crusaders finished with 25 shots, 18 on goal. 

Abbey Schmidt played the entire game in the net for the Crusaders. The Mustangs were only able to get off two shots, with none on goal.
