Box Score

OLATHE, Kan. - The Evangel women's soccer team were able to get back to their winning ways with a 2-0 shutout over MidAmerica Nazarene on Tuesday.

The Crusaders controlled the first half from the opening kick. They were constantly putting pressure on the goalkeeper and defense of the Pioneers. This lead to both goals for the Crusaders. The first came in the 15th minute when McKinley Yoder took the ball after a bad giveaway from the Pioneer's defense and passed it to Bianca Biffert who slotted it home easily.

The second goal came in the 32nd minute of the game, when again Yoder took control of a bad giveaway, this time from the goalkeeper. She fired home on the open goal and doubled the Crusaders' lead.

MidAmerica Nazarene put more pressure on the Crusaders' defense in the second half but were unable to find the back of the net.

"A great team win!! The ladies executed the game plan as we discussed and did so at a high level. The adjustments we made prior to the game and the pressure we were able to put on them helped create two goals in the first half. We also did a great job defensively dealing with their attacking style and a number of players did a marvelous job stepping into slightly different roles. Very proud of our entire team!!" Head Coach Bruce Deaton remarked following the match.

Evangel was led by Biffert with three shots on goal. In all the Crusaders had nine shots and five on goal.

Abbey Schmidt played the full ninety minutes in the goal for Evangel. She recorded eight saves in the game.
