Box Score

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Evangel women's soccer team dropped an overtime heartbreaker to Grand View, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.

The Vikings got the scoring started with a goal in the ninth minute when Victoria Purcell found her way past the Crusaders' keeper, Abbey Schmidt

Evangel equalized in the 73rd minute when McKinley Yoder fired home a pass from Bailey Biffert

Neither team was able to find a game winner in regulation, but Grand View found one just 54 seconds into the overtime period to win the game.

"While the result from the match is disappointing, I am not disappointed in our performance this afternoon. I am proud of our play especially in that second half as we battled back to tie the match. We continue to play some very good soccer as a team and we will take this outcome and push ourselves to grown from it for this next stretch of conference matches," Head Coach Bruce Deaton remarked following the contest.

Evangel finished with 23 shots and six on goal. Bianca Biffert led the team with two on goal.

Abbey Schmidt and Elise Palmer both spent time in goal for the Crusaders. Schmidt had five saves and allowed one goal, while Palmer allowed one goal.
