SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel women's tennis team took on the Truman State Bulldogs on Saturday (Feb. 12). After performing well in doubles competition, the Valor ultimately fell to Truman State, 5-4.
Evangel claimed a close doubles portion of the afternoon with an Abigail Chaney/Carly McAtee win over Allie Brown/Akansha Negi (6-3) and a Ana Bjelica/Sarah Hutchison decision versus Samantha Seggerman/Julia Fangman (6-0). Kennedy Shirey/Rachel Shelly took the lone win over EU against Alexia Phipps/Neely Bridges (6-4).
Bjelica completed a perfect afternoon with a singles win against Allie Brown (6-1, 6-1), while Chaney defeated Akansha Negi (6-0, 0-6, 10-7). Truman State took the remaining matches with Seggerman defeating McAtee (2-6, 1-6), Fangman beating Phipps (3-6, 0-6), Shirey downing Hutchison (2-6, 1-6), and Worster beating Overturf (4-6, 6-4, 6-10).
