Win Streak Snapped for Evangel Volleyball in Five Set Loss to Benedictine

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Evangel volleyball team was unable to finish a five-set rally Tuesday night falling 3-2 to Benedictine in Heart of America Athletic Conference action. 

The Crusaders jumped out to an early lead taking the first set. However, Evangel was unable to overcome 27 total errors as Benedictine pushed ahead in the fifth set to hand the Crusaders their first conference loss.

Tori Lowry paced Evangel with a match-high 23 kills and a .452 hitting percentage while adding 10 digs for a double-double. Daisy Eklund added 14 kills for Evangel and Regan Ansley tallied 10 in the loss.

McKenna Miller added 37 assists, while Victoria Fishback earned 23 assists in her first match back from injury. 

Benedictine took advantage of the Evangel errors hitting .350 in the third set and .480 in the fourth set. The Ravens also added 10 blocks defensively to help end Evangel's seven-match win streak.

Evangel hits the road for just the second time this month and first since Sept. 3, when they head to Iowa to face William Penn on Friday at 7 p.m. The Crusaders will head to Grand View on Saturday for a 2 p.m. first serve.
